If You Answer ‘Yes’ To Any Of These Questions, You May Be An Alcoholic

Consuming alcohol is something that many people enjoy. Whether you like beer, vodka, whisky, or something fruity, there is always something to suit your preference. For most people, drinking on the weekend or having a few beverages throughout the week is pretty standard.
When a hangover becomes a regular part of your weekend routine, it could be a sign of a larger problem. A statistic claims that one in five Australian adults regularly consume an unhealthy amount of alcohol.
Chronic alcohol use can cause liver failure, stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, damage nerves, injured brain cells and an increased risk of certain cancers. A question to ask yourself is whether or not you're drinking too much. If you've started the night drinking a little and end up drinking excessively, this could be a problem.
Or you might have even stopped drinking, but you continue to give into temptation. Another question you might want to ask yourself is if you have ever been frustrated by others criticizing your drinking? Do you avoid people questioning your drinking by just drinking alone?
If you store alcohol in your bedroom and drink on your own, that could be a sign of a greater issue. Consequences of excessive alcohol use are considerably dangerous. Blackouts are worrisome as something can happen to you that you're not aware of. Injuries sustained while drinking are common as it lowers your inhibitions, and could be the motivation you need to reduce your alcohol consumption.
Another important question to ask yourself if you think you might have an alcohol problem is if you fix your hangover with a ‘hair of the dog.’ Hangovers make you feel awful, tired, shaky, nauseated, dehydrated, and sometimes even depressed and anxious.
Some people will reach for a drink to try and ignore the symptoms of their hangover, but this doesn’t fix anything. Drinking heavily for an extended amount of time will make your body become dependent on alcohol, and some people need a drink to just feel like their normal selves. If you have an alcohol problem, there can be symptoms if you try to quit cold turkey. You might experience confusion, hallucinations, and even seizures. If you answer ‘yes’ to two or more of these questions, your drinking might be something you should discuss with your doctor.
